What is pool resurfacing and why does my pool need it?

Pool resurfacing involves replacing the interior surface of your pool (e.g., concrete, fibreglass or vinyl) to restore its appearance and waterproofing. Over time surfaces can fade, crack, blister, leak or become difficult to maintain, so resurfacing can extend your pool’s life and enhance its look.

How do you know if my pool needs resurfacing?

Signs include fading or chalky surfaces, cracks, leaks, bubbling (osmosis), black spot algae, difficulty maintaining water chemistry, and an old or worn finish. These issues often indicate surface breakdown and the need for a full resurface.

What types of pools can you resurface?

We resurface fibreglass pools, concrete pools, and vinyl-lined pools, tailoring the method and materials to suit each pool type for durability and finish quality.

How long does resurfacing typically take?

The time frame depends on the pool size, surface type and weather conditions. Most full resurfacing jobs take several days to over a week, including preparation, application and curing time.

Can you repair issues like osmosis and leaks during resurfacing?

Yes, part of our resurfacing process includes identifying and treating underlying issues like osmosis, blistering or structural damage to ensure the solution is long-lasting and not just superficial.

Do you replace tiles and coping as part of the service?

Yes, we can replace worn or dated waterline tiles and coordinate other renovation elements like steps, edges and plaster for a complete refreshed look.

How long will the resurfaced finish last?

When done professionally with quality materials, a resurfaced pool finish can last between 15-20 years before needing another overhaul, especially when maintained properly.

Is pool resurfacing worth it compared to replacing the pool?

Resurfacing is often far more cost-effective than replacing the entire pool shell. It revitalises your existing pool, improves performance and extends its life with minimal disruption.
